Addis in the Cape is an authentic Ethiopian restaurant on Long Street. The restaurant is spread over the top two floors of a typical Long Street building (wooden floors, bare bricks, etc). The seating is unusual with very low wooden chairs arranged around small round tables adding to the authentic feel.
The menu is fairly broad and most items arrive on large round platters (fitting the round tables). A large (rice) pancake layer covers the platter and all toppings are just added on top of the pancake. For main courses diners get several rolled up pancakes which are then used to grab food from the main platter in a communal style.
There is an option to get two main courses for R90 or the set menu including starter, several main courses, desert and Ethiopian coffee (which comes with popcorn) for R150.
- Addis in the Cape is located in a red building on your right as you head up Long Street
- It is on the corner of Long Street and Church Street
- The entrance is on Church Street and you must head straight up the stairs
