The Landmarks Half Marathon is a scenic 21km race through the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. The race has an enjoyable route, is well organised and is consistently highly rated.
The route passes several Cape Town landmarks, some more famous than others. Hence the name. Among the landmarks are UCT, Rhodes Memorial, Newlands cricky ground, Newlands rugby stadium, Mosterts Mill, etc. The route is generally scenic.
A prominent aspect of the race is a climb up to Rhodes Memorial above UCT (see profile picture). This climb is steep, long and fairly tough on the weaker runners.
In 2009 almost 2000 runners took part in the Landmarks Half Marathon.
There is also a fun run component - 6km in 2009.
Take it easy until you've made it to Rhodes Memorial. After that it is downhill or flat almost all the way.
