Located on the edge of the ocean at the Kalk Bay train station, The Brass Bell is a collection of 2 pubs and 3 restaurants. There are views over the working Kalk Bay harbor and surrounding ocean.
There is a bustling outside bar/restaurant area adjacent to the tidal pools and ocean. It has a relaxed atmosphere and gets busy on sunny weekends and holidays. Note that this whole section allows smoking. This section is popular because of the views, relaxed atmosphere and proximity to the water. You can order seafood, burgers, steak and pizza - view the menu here
The main restaurant is upstairs, mostly indoors, and offers great views of the harbor and ocean from its elevated position. The menu offers good seafood with mains costing between R70 and R95. This section is a lot more formal than the decks downstaies. View the menu here
You can read more about the different sections on their site here
In general The Brass Bell is a fun spot to visit because of it's location, views and the deck. The food is OK - but it's all about location
- Get onto Maid Road through Muizenberg and continue to Kalk Bay
- The Brass Bell is on the left at the train station
- To get to the restaurant you need to walk through the access which passes under the railway
