There is a path from Lions Head to Signal Hill which runs along the ridge between these two points. Because it is along the ridge this path offers lovely views of the Atlantic and Sea Point, Camps Bay on the one side and Table Mountain and the City Bowl on the other.
Depending on how far up Lions Head you go, the route isn't too hilly and can be run quite easily - it also makes for an easy walk. Note that this path links up with the traditional Lions Head path so you could easily go all the way to the top of Lions Head.
There is a historic (and tiny) kramat on the route which is interesting and there are a few historic shrine/burials along the way too.
The distance from Signal Hill to the point where the path meets the normal Lions Head path is 3km so an out-and-back route is 6km.
- There is a point where there is a parking area and viewing point and the road is marked as private. At the start of the private road the path moves off to the left
- On the way to Signal Hill keep left when the path splits, the correct path moves along the Western side of the ridge
- Turn towards Lions Head from the top of Kloofnek Rd
- The normal Lions Head parking area is on the right after about 250m but you should go past this
- The Kramat is on your left a little later and makes a good starting point
- You could also start and end in the Signal Hill parking area at the end of the road
