Depends on the event
The Independent Armchair Theatre in Observatory is home to a variety of eclectic entertainment options. Monday nights are movies nights – R30 for entrance and pizza (from Divas) and R5 for straight entrance… Come early and find a spot on the sofas or floor to enjoy the movie projected onto the white wall.
Activities on other nights range from live music to comedy acts. A listing for activities for each day of the month is available at the entrance; it’s worth picking one up and making a plan to attend something that catches your attention. The venue is very relaxed and definitely belongs in Obs. You'll find a variety of characters in the venue but it seems to be dominated by students from the nearby University of Cape Town.

Independent Armchair Theatre is closed for a while. Most of the gigs have moved to The Assembly in Town, and ObsCafe next door has some theatre stuff going on.
