The Baxter Theatre is one of the main theatre venues in Cape Town and hosts plenty of plays, musicals, live music, comedy festivals, etc. The theatre complex is in Rondebosch and is part of the University of Cape Town.
The centre consists of several venues - the main theatre seats 666, the concert hall seats 638 and the smaller Sanlam Studio Theatre seats 172. There is also a small restaurant in the Baxter theatre complex which is usually open and operating during performances.

The venue itself is large and distinctive - the architecture betrays the 1970s origins of the building. That said, the actual theatres are good venues and well run.
- The Baxter is a prominent building on Main Road in Rondebosch (close to the towers of Tugwell and Marquard)
- From the M3 take the Woolsack offramp at the University of Cape Town
- Head down the hill toward Rondebosch
- The Baxter Theatre is on your left as you reach main road and there are several parking areas available
