Most people know the Ocean Basket franchise to be a good source of value for money seafood. For instance you can grab a hake and chips (or rice) meal for R33 which is filling, and tasty. There is a large seafood menu to choose from - see full menu. Meals come in the customary sizzling steel skillets and all seafood is served with tasty chips or the healthier rice.
The Sea Point Ocean Basket is a particularly nice branch. It is on the second floor in the St Johns Piazza center on Main Road and is nicely set up. There are tables both inside and on an open (most nights closed off by canvas) terrace facing the road.
The branch itself is fairly large and on almost any night you can arrive without a booking and get a table. The staff is enthusiastic and generally offer good service.
If you like a bit for 'zing' then ask for Cajun spices no your fish
Ocean Basket Sea Point is in St Johns Piazza which is on your left if you are heading down Sea Point Main Rd away from the city
- Get onto Sea Point Main Road heading away from the city
- Towards the end of the road you will see St Johns Piazza on your left and Ocean Basket on the 2nd floor
