The Pipe Track is one of the easiest walks on Table Mountain because it does hardly any climbing. Basically the path follows an old water pipe along a contour from the Kloofnek parking area along the side of table mountain above Camps Bay.  The views of Table Mountain, Lions Head, Twelve Apostles and Camps Bay are wonderful for such an easy hike.

The walk is relatively flat along the contour of the mountain and you can continue as long as you like. It is possible to get pretty far along the base of the Twelve Apostles mountains. One disadvantage is that this is an out-and-back track so you retrace your steps on the way back in.

Tips
  • Because this track faces West out over the ocean spectacular sunset views are on offer. There are several benches which make good spots for a sundowner
  • This track also gives access to the Diagonal Path and Kasteelpoort which can be used to climb (very steep) the back side of Table Mountain
  • This track is a little more secluded that some others so be aware and try not to hike alone

Getting There
  • Park at the Kloofnek parking area (as you turn onto the Cableway road from Kloofnek)
  • The trail starts on the right (Western) side of the road up a couple of stone steps and along a stone and concrete path
  • The path passes a small house on a short uphill and rapidly becomes unpaved
