Lions head is by far the easiest of the three famous peaks to climb, and is for that reason extremely popular – even at night! The path begins at the top of Kloofnek and winds all the way around the mountain itself on the way up. This means that you will have views of the City Bowl, Table Mountain, Robben Island, Clifton, Camps Bay and Signal Hill (the Lion’s rump).

The famous Noon Gun on Signal Hill has been fired every day (except Sundays and public holidays) since 1902 and has now been fired over 63,000 times! Visitors are welcome to watch the firing of the gun which happens daily at 12:00 sharp.

Signal Hill

Signal Hill is the 'rump' of Lions Head and is a very popular sundowners spot. Its location and elevation offer great views over the city, Table Mountain, and Table Bay. This spot is also popular because there is road access and a large parking lot so you can easily head out there at night to view the night lights.

There is a path from Lions Head to Signal Hill which runs along the ridge between these two points. Because it is along the ridge this path offers lovely views of the Atlantic and Sea Point, Camps Bay on the one side and Table Mountain and the City Bowl on the other.
