Activities in Sea Point

The beautiful Winchester Mansions Hotel offers a superb brunch buffet in their restaurant and courtyard every Sunday. The buffet runs from 11:00 to 14:00 and offers a wide variety of very tasty food - everything from eggs to cakes to salads to fish.

Posticino is a popular and relaxed Italian restaurant in Sea Point. It has a bustling and fun ambiance with tables packed into every corner and murals on the walls. The diminutive owner is often seen moving around the restaurant chatting loudly to regulars and moving tables around to keep people happy.

The Sea Point swimming pool must be one of the most beautiful outdoor pools around. It is a filtered salt water, Olympic sized pool alongside the Atlantic Ocean. The complex includes the main pool, lawns, showers, a diving pool and kiddies pools. Although not heated the pool is generally pretty warm in summer but it does get chilly during winter.

Tom Yum is a funky little Thai restaurant in Sea Point. An extensive menu full of Thai and Asian (Indonesian, Chinese, Japanese) dishes with Chicken, Beef, Pork, Prawns, soups, curries and plenty of vegetarian options.

There is a wonderful paved walkway stretching from the Lighthouse in Greenpoint till the far end of Sea Point (with a little bit of road walking I have walked from the V&A waterfront to Camps Bay safely and easily).

Most people know the Ocean Basket franchise to be a good source of value for money seafood. For instance you can grab a hake and chips (or rice) meal for R33 which is filling, and tasty. There is a large seafood menu to choose from - see full menu. Meals come in the customary sizzling steel skillets and all seafood is served with tasty chips or the healthier rice.

La Vie is a relaxed restaurant/bistro on the Beach Front in Sea Point. They serve pizza, pasta, steak, and salads. La Vie also have several large screen TV's showing sporting events and the open restaurant with large bar add to the relaxed atmosphere.

The Carvery is a small and relaxed restaurant where for a set fee (currently R89) diners get a 3 course meal with a buffet carvery as the main course. Patrons choose a starter (soup, pate, salad, etc), then help themselves to the carvery (roast beef, roasted Karoo lamb, chicken, roast potatoes, etc), and finish up with a  choice from the dessert menu (Crème brulee, chocolate mousse, malva pudding, ice cream, etc).
