Satori Camel Run

The Satori Camel Run is a new 10mile (16km) running race through Noordhoek and its surroundings. 2008 is the first year that this even is being run and the final route has not been finalized yet. However, the website refers to beach, road and mountain running. Part of the race will be through the Cape Point Vineyards and there are prizes for King and Queen of the mountains at the top of a hill in the vineyards.

Die Strandloper is a superb open air seafood restaurant in Langebaan (about 125km up the west coast from Cape Town). It is a relaxed place on the beach of the Langebaan Lagoon with a sandy floor and tables arranged around the central fish braai. Meals are served over a leisurely three to four hour period and apart from the crayfish everything is eat as much as you like.

The Table Mountain Challenge is a 35km trail running race around Table Mountain. It is extremely popular, and because there is a relay option even beginners can take part in the event. The route is really beautiful and for any trail runner this is a wonderful event.

India Venster is an exciting route up the face of Table Mountain that is not particularly well known. It is a fun alternative to the more popular Platteklip Gorge because there is some rock scrambling to keep things interesting. But do take heed of the danger sign - this is indeed a dangerous route and several people have been badly injured here. Be very careful and do not attept it unless you are comfortable with exposed rock scrambling.
